It is 1,318 miles from Tempe, Ariz., to Columbia, Mo, and it takes approximately 22 hours to drive there. Tempe to Miami, Fla., is 2,354 miles and it is 1,243 miles from the desert to Pullman, Wash. Regardless of the distance or the season, Dircks Moving Services makes the trip and ensures the Sun Devil football team has all the gear they need for the away game.
Dircks has been the official mover of Sun Devil Football since 1990 and is a partner of both Sun Devil Athletics and ASU Alumni Association. They were there when Andrew Walter led the Devils to a 45-42 upset victory over No. 6 Oregon in Eugene and helped the team feel at home at the 1997 Rose Bowl.
More than 6,000 pounds of football equipment is transported on an ASU branded trailer when the Devils hit the road, and a Dircks driver is assigned to each of the trips and stays for the entire duration.

The task has become even more detail-intensive this season as newly hired head coach Todd Graham has put an emphasis on making his team feel at home, even when they are a thousand miles from the Sun Devil Stadium.
“We take all of the signs that are in our locker room and actually have them made and carry them with us,” Graham said to ESPN’s Ted Miller. “We have plug-in air fresheners and we use the same air fresheners to try to make things as normal as they can possibly be. I don’t change anything. Everything is at exactly the same time. We try to keep things like that. As much as you can keep them in the routine the better it is.”
