The football team took to the field at Sun Devil Stadium for their final tune-up before the 2012 season starts on Thursday, August 30, against Northern Arizona.
Coach Graham announced to the team today after practice that he gave two walk-ons — linebackers Brandon Johnson and Grandville Taylor — scholarships. Both Johnson and Taylor are redshirt juniors and are considered two of the hardest working guys on the team. Captains Brandon Magee and Keelan Johnson said they were proud to be on the team with Johnson and Taylor, and Magee said he wouldn’t be the player he is today without the two of them pushing him each day in practice.
This if yet another example of how local kids that really cherish the game of football can walk-on and earn a scholarship at ASU if they work hard and dedicate themselves to the program.
This gives the team five former walk-ons who now have been awarded scholarships. They include:
All five players are listed on the two-deep depth chart and expected to contribute quality minutes throughout the season.
