The 2011-12 SDA Student-Athlete Awards
Sun Devil Athletics handed out its annual Sparky Awards on August 22 at the All-Student-Athlete meeting. The awards have been given out since 2004 and are voted on by coaches and administrators.
The softball team was the big winner among varsity sports as they took home four Sparky Awards, all of which are hand crafted by a local sculptor. Baseball was next with three, followed by track and field with two, and diving, water polo and football each earned one apiece.

Male Rookie of the Year - Drew Stankiewicz (Baseball)
Female Rookie of the Year - Alicia Brightwell (Water Polo) & Amber Freeman (Softball)
Male Unsung Hero - Trevor Williams (Baseball)
Female Unsung Hero - Keia Pinnick (Track and Field)
Female Scholar of the Year - Elina Eggers (Diving)
Jim Brock Award – Deven Marrero (Baseball)
Heather Farr Award - Katelyn Boyd (Softball)
Golden Heart - Hillary Bach (Softball)
Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year - Aaron Pflugrad (Football)
