To end a week of numerous orientation and kickoff events campus-wide, over 450 Sun Devils fans packed the main ballroom at Tempe Mission Palms Hotel on Friday for the 12th Annual Sun Devil Football Kickoff Luncheon.

Master of Ceremonies and voice of the Sun Devils Tim Healey kicked off the program, followed by President/CEO of the Tempe Chamber of Commerce Mary Ann Miller and VP and Secretary of ASU President, ASU Alumni Association Dr. Christine Wilkinson.

All in attendance then directed their attention to the ballroom entrance as members of the ASU band lead the Sun Devil football coaching staff and several players into the ballroom.

ASU President Dr. Michael Crow was next to address the crowd next and recognized the student-athletes and coaches for their dedication and determination.

“These young men are student-athletes. These young men are part of the tradition of college football,” said Crow. “We are here for these young men. We are here for them to learn, to play, to compete and to inspire all of us.”

Following the lunch and video presentation portion of the program Athletics Director Steve Patterson and head coach Todd Graham also spoke and thanked those in attendance for their support of Sun Devil Athletics.

Senior linebacker Brandon Magee also appeared on stage to show his appreciation for the overwhelming encouragement he has received during his tenure at ASU.

“The great support that everyone here has given me over the past four-plus years, especially when I was injured last season, makes me proud to be a Sun Devil,” Magee said. “I look forward to going out there each week and representing every one of you.”
