University President Dr. Michael Crow is #ALLin:
- University President Dr. Michael Crow attended the evening practice, along with representatives from the Arizona Board of Regents
- President Crow addressed the entire team following the evening practice. He spoke about the amazing opportunity the football student-athletes have – and not only because of their scholarships – but because there are more than one million members of #SunDevilNation who support them and want them to succeed. He then thanked all members of the team for being #ALLin and for putting in the hard work that it takes to represent the entire university on the field every week. He finished by pointing out the coaching staff and referring to them as “master teachers.” He told the team that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work closely with a group of men who are truly invested in giving them a brighter and better future
- President Crow was presented with a gold Sun Devil football helmet and a t-shirt after his talk with the team
Other tidbits:
- Defensive tackle Mike Pennel participated in the evening practice after spending the morning session at “Muscle Beach”
- Wide receiver Rashad Ross had one of his best practices of fall camp. He made a number of plays that showed why he won the MPSF (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) 200-meter indoor track championship
- Defensive lineman Junior Onyeali made a great play to strip the ball carrier, which fired up assistant coach (defensive passing game coordinator) Chris Ball and the rest of the defense
- Linebacker Brandon Magee was the first to jump off the Pat Tillman Cliff into the water behind Camp T. Fellow linebacker Steffon Martin followed close behind.
Excerpts of the day:
- Coach Graham: “It was a special day today. Frank (Kush) hugged me. He usually punches me.”
- Associate Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator Paul Randolph wants to get the fans involved this season, especially when his defense causes a turnover: “You just gave the ball away,” Randolph says, “and we really appreciate it.”
- Coach Graham: “It pays to be on special teams!” Those who are not on special teams must go to “Muscle Beach” and do a variety of exercises, including pushups, sit-ups and dips
